Oahu and Maui art, restrung like a lei - I’ve replaced two colorful Hawaiian landscapes with blacked out versions. My original releases were bright and colorful, yet I felt, as a set they did not ‘tell a story’. But now, my all-new Oahu (below) recognizably flows with her sister, Maui. I realized that the hard, rocky land goes dark in contrast to Hawaii’s amazing sunsets. And so there are now charcoal silhouettes of mountains in Maui and palm trees in Oahu. The second element stringing the two drawings together almost in a lei-like fashion are the sunsets themselves; they’re actually oil pastel details of orchids. And last week, my Valued Buyers Club Members got a time-limited opportunity to drape my new “Oahu” at a discounted price, around whatever island they call home!
